Calico Station Renovation
Calico Station, a 14,374-square-foot mixed-use development in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, represents a visionary collaboration between Cure Architects and K. MOYE LAND DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT, LLC. This project is designed to seamlessly blend the rich, traditional charm of Southern architecture with modern conveniences, creating a unique, community-centric environment. Currently under construction, Calico Station is poised to become a vibrant destination that enhances the local landscape and serves as a hub for both residential and commercial activity.
The design of Calico Station focuses on creating a harmonious balance between form and function, integrating sustainable elements with walkable spaces that promote interaction and engagement. The development features a carefully curated mix of residential units and commercial storefronts, providing an ideal setting for living, working, and socializing. Open spaces, green pathways, and communal gathering areas have been thoughtfully incorporated to encourage connection among residents and foster a sense of community.
In keeping with modern design principles, Calico Station is built with a focus on sustainability, energy efficiency, and environmental consciousness. Materials and construction methods are chosen to reduce environmental impact, while the layout emphasizes pedestrian-friendly streetscapes, inviting storefronts, and accessible public spaces.
At the same time, the development preserves the essence of Southern hospitality and architectural tradition, blending it with contemporary touches. By capturing the best of both worlds, Calico Station will offer its residents and visitors a warm, welcoming atmosphere in a stylish, modern setting. Upon completion, it will stand as a dynamic centerpiece in Hattiesburg, providing a vibrant environment that meets the needs of a diverse community and revitalizes the local area.
“We think we are filling the gap of a lot of opportunity and activity that is missing downtown, so we think we are going to be a great asset to work together with all the other business owners and bring something to the table that is unique to invite people to downtown as a whole.”
- Ken Moye of K Moye Land Design and Development
